The Phillips Library holds the papers of Eleanor Broadhead, a Salem resident, who lectured about the Great Salem Fire. This image of police offices was included in those papers and used during her lectures. Names for the officers were not provided. At the time of the fire, the police headquarters were at 17 Central Street; the City Marshall was Patrick J. Lehan and the Captain of the department was John J. Carr. The entire department, including off-duty policemen, assisted during the fire.
